It is easy to get out of your workout routine around the Holidays . First, make sure your caloric intake is correct. You need a sound, well-balanced diet that is low enough in calories to allow you to lose your excess body fat. You can train all you want, but if your calorie intake exceeds your daily calorie expenditure you will not get leaner.
Strength training should be performed 2-3 days per week on non-consecutive days. Cardio can also be performed 2-3 days per week. You should not be going to the gym more than a total of 5 days per week. Remember, your body also needs adequate time to recover from your workouts for you to derive any benefit from them. Working out longer or more often than the minimum amount required will not hasten the muscle building process, it will stifle it.
Be consistent with your workouts, put in a maximum effort every time in the gym, and watch your diet. Stick with a solid plan and you will be “leaned out” just in time for the return of warm weather.
