Best exercise for glutes and abs
So what’s the best exercise for glutes and abs? This question was recently asked by our good friends at Channel 10 Great Day Live Tampa Bay, for their “Fitness Friday” weekly TV segment (see a video of the segment below).
Naturally there are many great exercises you can do, and you may be limited by exactly what equipment you have available. What we decided to focus on in the video below was a great glute and overall lower-body building exercise, and a great little-known ab exercise that can be performed at home.
Best exercise for glutes
One of the best exercises for glutes also develops the thigh muscles, and is one of the best known bone building exercises too. So whether you are concerned about osteoporosis, or just want your butt to look great in those new jeans, you should definitely be doing the leg press.
As Eric states in the video, the key to getting the best results from the leg press (or any strength training exercise for that matter) is performing slow, controlled reps. Just throwing the weight around any old way will not give you the best muscle-building results for the precious time you spend in the gym. Make sure to move the weight in a slow, controlled fashion for best results – don’t throw it, and don’t drop it.
Best exercise for abs
This one can be done at home or the gym, and can be performed even if you have a history of neck or back problems – the reverse crunch.
As the name implies, you will be doing the reverse of a regular ab crunch, which is to say instead of crunching your head and shoulders toward your legs, you will be crunching your legs toward your head and shoulders. Our long-time awesome client Marianna demonstrates this exercise perfectly in the video below.
